Engine Handover Ceremony between Mercedes-Benz and UMPSA (AEC)

August 12, 2024 l Pekan - UMPSA has received a donation of eight engines – two 2.0L turbo engines and six 1.8L engines – from luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz to enhance student education and training programs in the field of automotive engineering.
 
The engines were handed over by Mr. Andreas Lettner, Vice President and Chief Operations Officer (CKD) of Mercedes-Benz (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha, who represented the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor at the ceremony held at the UMPSA Banquet Hall in Pekan today.

According to Prof. Ts. Dr. Aida, UMPSA and Mercedes-Benz Malaysia have a long-standing and growing collaboration aimed at enhancing knowledge, providing practical learning opportunities, and improving automotive engineering programs.

She stated that this partnership brings significant benefits towards developing highly skilled human capital to meet industry needs. "This engine donation will strengthen UMPSA’s ability to deliver practical and industry-relevant education in automotive engineering," she said during her speech at the Engine Handover Ceremony from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia to Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).

She added that the university appreciates Mercedes-Benz's contribution and hopes the engines handed over today will help advance training programs at the institution and support the development of future talent for Malaysia’s automotive industry.

Also in attendance were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Ir. Ts. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, General Manager of Production and Logistics at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Azlan A. Halip, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Quality Manager, Nordin Awalluddin, and Director of the Automotive Engineering Centre (AEC), Professor Dr. Rizalman Mamat.
